"Wax-wing" collage on media board

This collage is one of the quieter pieces in the show.
Based on a cedar wax-wing baby discovered in our yard. It is influenced by Japanese woodblock and ink drawings. My mother had Japanese scrolls and books I remember seeing as a child. The simplicity and elegance of the design and drawings are enchanting. I am deeply influenced by Japanese art and thought having grown up with a Japanese mother. She is half Japanese and was born and raised in Tokyo to an American born orphan and a Japanese father. We'll save that story for another time.
Suffice it to say, I have been influenced by Eastern and Western philosophy/mythology and art.
